Sonia Valle-Gette is a dance educator, choreographer and performer. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences in International Business, and a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences in Dance from San Diego State University. Sonia also completed a Masters in Fine Arts in dance from Arizona State University where she received the Outstanding Choreographer Award by Friends of Dance and the ASU Department of Dance for her solo work. Sonia has been a presenter at the American College Dance Festival, teaching Capoeira, a Brazilian martial art form incorporating dance, music and song. Sonia’s choreographic work has been presented nationally and internationally. Her choreography “Zero Tolerance” was selected for the American College Dance Festival Gala in the Spring of 2020. This is Sonia's 22nd year as program director at Paradise Valley Community College. She was awarded the Woman of Distinction Award by the Women's Leadership Group at Paradise Valley Community College and recognized for her efforts to promote an appreciation for diversity through dance concert programming. Sonia currently teaches Choreography, Rhythmic Awareness, Introduction to Dance History online, Dance Performance, Modern Dance, Ballet, Elements of Functional Anatomy, Pilates, and concepts of Ideokinesis as an approach to improving posture, alignment, and fluency of movement through structured guided imagery.
